TRADITIONAL VILLAGES AND HOMES
Small mountain village south of Bajawa. Take the road to Bena to reach it. You have to go all the way south to Wae Bela, from there take the first left uphill.
On the plateaux of Flores, villages are often found along the road to Nbay Aegela. Ask for directions at the Catholic Mission of Boanio to follow the path towards the highest western mountain.
Flores has a tumultuous terrain, with some villages high in altitude, such as Salalejo on the road to Mauponggo. At the crossing near Sawu, ask the way to Doki and begin your mountainous climb.
Varied style homes blend perfectly with their environment, balancing on top of a bed of rocks.
The structure of these homes is generally built of beams, with a system of tenons and mortise.
